Bull City Beat: Triangle Football Roundup Weekend Review (Sept. 17)

There was lots of action in the area this weekend. If you were unable to attend any of the games, we have given you a brief roundup of the scores and action.

Tar Heels Win Now 3 – 0

The UNC Tar Heels have now improved to 3 – 0 after defeating the Virginia Cavaliers. Everyone was a little skeptical after the firing of Butch Davis but Elliot Withers has stepped in and done a magnificent job leading the Tar Heels. The Heels have found ways to win despite the turnovers because of a defense that boasts a lot of talent that is NFL worthy.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Bryn Renner has been pretty good despite having a few moments of inexperience show up and the running game has gotten better every week. Special Teams has also been special as well as Bull City native T.J. Thorpe is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

The Heels wins haven’t all been pretty but they are finding ways to win. That is all that really matters in the scope of things.

Next up for the Tar Heels are the Rambling Wreck of Georgia Tech. It will be the first road game for the Tar Heels this season.
