Sports and blogging has opened a lot of doors for people like me the past few years. I have been a beneficiary of my success on and off the field. What can I say, I have been able to see and do things that most people haven't ever been able to do in their lifetime. From the short amount of time I spent in professional sports, to the time I spent coaching college athletes, I have developed a soft spot for people who haven't done as much.
I made a pact that if my blog was to get off the ground that I would do all that I can to help people live and see sports to the fullest. When they won the national championships in the early 1990's I was probably the biggest partier of them all on their campus.
Well this was different. These two kids are die hard Duke fans. They both come from underprivileged homes and the chances of them ever seeing a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium was about an absolute zero. I received an email about them and I decided that I would hang out with them a couple of days. The parents didn't ask for me to take them to a game, but just to talk to them about college and the importance of college and jobs.
