Does Shaquille O'Neal Have Another Run In Him

The most interesting twist in the NBA playoffs is the return of Shaquille O’Neal. If this were 1998 or even 2005 this would be a big deal, but in 2011 does it really mean anything at all. Shaq was the most dominant player of his era when he was in his prime. The man could move mountains in the post and he had the uncanny ability to make the big defensive play that his team needed in the clutch.

Ironically Shaq’s popularity has declined and he is more popular now for whom he dates, and what he does off the court versus what he does on it. This season Shaq has been just a shell of his former self and has been on the shelf injured for more games than he has been available for.

No doubt the big man has slowed down some, but what if he can become a shadow of his former self. What if he can for a quarter or even a spell of minutes become dominant like he used to be? Can he be inspired to turn it up a notch even if it’s pure adrenaline or is that asking too much from the 38 year old? What do the Celtics have to lose? It is obvious that they miss the big Kendrick Perkins.

Aaron Rodgers May Never Win A Super Bowl But He Has Won Me Over

When the season began this year everyone in Green Bay was still morning the loss of Brett Lorenzo Favre and rightfully so. Favre will go down in history as one of the 10 greatest players to ever play this game statistically as well as emotionally. Aaron Rodgers has made a dent in the Lorenzo Favre legacy by statistically destroying his opponents these past three seasons as a full time starter.

Like many people say never crown the man too early, and I never do. However this year Rodgers has made me a believer. He can run, he can throw, he plays smart, and he has heart. I have coached quarterbacks in college and he has the best footwork of any quarterback to play in the league in a long time. He has mastered the box drill and has every one of the escapes to elude a free blitzer down.

Rodgers is pretty accurate as well. He has the ability to put the ball in places only a few quarterbacks can. He’s a combination of Troy Aikman (accuracy) and Steve Young (agility). I know that is high praise but the man deserves it. It’s hard to back up a legend and then to step in his shoes, you better bring it. Ask Steve Young about replacing a legend. It’s not easy.
