The Seattle Seahawks Might Just Be For Real

It seems that week after week the Seahawks just keep finding ways to win. Some of their wins have been controversial but the one consistent thing the Seahawks have going for them is that they can get after the quarterback and they have the most physical running

2010 NFL Week 1: A Week In Review

Week 1 of the NFL Season is almost in the books and there are a few things that I learned this weekend. When I blogged last week about my 20 guarantees for this NFL Season, I caught a little flack for a few of my statements but it looks like I might have been on point for most or all of the predictions that I made.

The opening week of the NFL season is usually full of intrigue. You usually have an upset, a team that gets destroyed, and a few players that take the league by surprise. This years opener was more of the same. The week will conclude tonight with two games on Monday Night Football which has become a staple over the last few seasons. Although week 1 is not complete, I want to give you my assessment of the opening weekend.

  1. The Offensive Line Play in the NFL is below standard. I saw more holding than I think I have ever seen in NFL games this weekend. I think offensive linemen have gotten too heavy, so they don’t have the footwork that they used to have.
  2. You might want to take the Seattle Seahawks and Pete Carroll seriously. Yeah I know they beat up on the San Francisco 49ers but the Seahawks looked convincing in doing so. It is amazing what Pete Carroll has done with this team in such a short amount of time. I also cannot believe the resurgence of Mike Williams. I guess with a little structure any team can get better.
  3. Michael Crabtree quit on the 49ers. Watching Michael Crabtree run routes yesterday made me sick to my stomach. I am not a 49ers fan, but I can tell when a player is bull jiving when running routes. It won’t take long for Mike Singletary to get him in gear or he will be watching and not playing.
  4. Jason Garrett is the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL. This guy has weapons beyond weapons, but he is a gimmick play machine. The thing is he doesn’t have to be. He has the most potent running attack in the league but he is hell bent on passing the ball on every down.
  5. Chris Collinsworth has a man crush on Fat Albert Haynesworth. Collinsworth seemed to point out every time Albert did something wrong. It is apparent that Collinsworth had been instructed to point out Haynesworth’s bad plays and insubordination by someone at NBC last night. But Chris took it too far last night. Mr. Collinsworth if you were paying attention there were no defensive linemen in the photo, just linebackers and defensive backs. So Chris STFU.

NFC West: Its About Respect.. The Cardinals, 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks Battle For It

Day 8 of breaking down the divisions has led us to the NFC West. In the past three to four years the NFC West has belonged to the Arizona Cardinals and rightfully so. The Cardinals have been the cream of the crop in that division. Times are changing and a few pieces are now missing from that championship formula.

This year the Arizona Cardinals will be without gun slinging signal caller Kurt Warner and speedy wide receiver Anquon Boldin. Taking over behind the center is former first round draft pick Matt Leinart. Leinart will still have weapons as the backfield is populated with two great backs in Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower. The wide receivers are still amongst the best in the league as Larry Fitzgerald will be showcased along side promising youngsters Steve Breaston and Early Doucet. The Cardinals tight ends are led by Anthony Becht who will also provide balance to the end of an offensive line that can protect the passer as well as dominate the run game.

Defensively the Cardinals have a pretty good defensive front. They are led by Darnell Dockett up front. The linebackers are fueled by explosive playmaker and new addition to the squad Joey Porter. The secondary also should be pretty solid with the addition of Kerry Rhodes at the safety position.
