
Yesterday ESPN released the last of its top 500 list and twitter went a buzzing. Many people were debating the issue of where their favorite players were and others were contemplating why some younger players were ranked very high without necessarily proving themselves.
The excitement got me primed up for an NBA season, because that’s what lists are supposed to do. However this list only made me feel a bit empty inside. How can I even begin to debate whether or not Carmelo Anthony is a top ten talent in the NBA if there might not even be a season to uphold my argument?
With all of the young talent in the league right now, it’s a shame that the NBA can’t get right. The young men who entered the draft early don’t have a home, nor do they have income that they were expecting. They are sitting in limbo waiting on the opportunity to earn their wealth. Hopefully these young men are back at their institution of learning and obtaining their college degrees. This lockout should help instill the fact that basketball will not be there forever.
