Carmelo Is Doing What Carmelo Does

About two months ago Carmelo Anthony was considered a bust, a waste, and even he had to be questioning why people were questioning his skills and resume. Every sports commentator had essentially

The Jeremy Lin Effect Brings The Knicks Wins

Jeremy Lin is a NBA journeyman who just a week ago was playing in the NBA Developmental League. It was obvious that he had no business playing in the D League as he was shredding the competition. Well the

Are The Knicks Really Coveting Calipari

According to a source of the New York Post, Owner James Dolan of the New York Knicks may have eyes on John Calipari to coach and run the front office. The rumor states that unless the New York Knicks make a run deep into the playoffs, the team may be looking at a change up top when next season rolls around.

Maybe I missed something but what has Calipari won? He didn’t win at UMass. He didn’t win in Memphis. He is currently the coach of the University of Kentucky and coached in the NBA from 1996 to 2000, first as head coach of the New Jersey Nets and then as an assistant for the Philadelphia 76ers. His Nets went 72-112.

I am not really sure why the Knicks are so interested in making him the front guy. Maybe the post has it all wrong but this one clearly has me shaking my head. I can’t sit here and say that I am 100% behind D’Antoni, simply because of his defensive philosophy, but if I had to chose between the two, D’Antoni’s resume is much more complete.

It's Apparent That Carmelo Anthony Is The Key To The Knicks Success

Make no mistake about it, the impact that Chauncey Billups has added to the Knicks team is apparent. Mr. Big Shot has stepped right in the shoes of Raymond Felton and is showing everyone that he is still a force to be reckoned with in the NBA. Everyone has been buzzing about how the addition to Billups to the trade has made the trade look even better and they are right. The Knicks now have more than one player who can fill it up on a consistent basis and although it may seem like they mortgaged their future, they may have in fact saved their present and future. Do I expect the Knicks to win it all this year? The answer to that question is a big fat no. However I do feel like they can get out of the first round. I didn’t feel that way before the trade.

Since Billups has missed the last 4 games, it is really apparent that the key to the Knicks future success is Carmelo Anthony. Mike D’Antoni has realized now what a force he has in Melo and he has started to develop strategies to get him the ball in clutch situations. Melo has the ability to create his own offense. This is something that D’Antoni hasn’t had the luxury of in a swingman. He has had some guys who could get their own shot, but none with the ability to fill it up like Melo.

The Knicks Are Back: Man It Feels Good To See People Up On It

When was the last time you could say that the New York Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA. Think about that… the NEW YORK KNICKS… the hottest team in basketball right now. When was the last time you could say that? When was the last time you turned on MSG expecting a win? After a decade long wait, the Knicks are relevant again.

I know.. I know.. you are going to be quick to bring out the obvious. They haven’t played anyone good in the last three weeks? You’re right they haven’t played the upper echelon teams in the NBA yet, but you know what? The Knicks are taking care of the teams they should beat. And regardless of what you haters may say about strength of schedule… what about the Hornets win Friday night? They were one of the best teams in the league at defending their home-court (8-1 at home heading into the game), and the Knicks took care of business.

The Knicks have to be proud of their acquisition of Amare Stoudemire (aka STAT).  He puts up gaudy numbers as well but he also wins. He’s a difference maker. And go back to some of those early season home losses to Philadelphia and Houston. Stoudemire was sick to his stomach and wasn’t afraid to call out his teammates. That's a true franchise player.
