The Perfect Team For Donovan McNabb: The Detroit Lions

There is only one team in the NFL that is suited for Donovan McNabb and nobody is really talking about it. That team is the Detroit Lions. They have a good core of receivers and a fairly young offense. They have a quarterback in Matthew Stafford who cannot stay healthy and a running game that is similar to the guys he had in Philadelphia.

McNabb probably hasn’t even considered the Lions but it makes sense. Even if Stafford beats him out at quarterback, chances are Stafford will be hurt by week 4. McNabb can buy himself some time and prove to the rest of the world that there is still some magic left in that right arm. McNabb is noted as not being the most accurate passer in the world, but he would still be throwing to Calvin “Megatron” Johnson who can catch a BB in the dark.

McNabb can still play but I am not sure at what level. The Lions at least give him a chance to showcase some leadership and some savvy that is well needed on that young but exciting team. I keep hearing rumors of teams that really don’t suit his talents. If he goes to a veteran team, they just get that much older and that doesn’t help them in the long run.

Whats Next For Mike Vick

Everyone who follows professional football has to wonder what is next for Michael Vick. Vick arguably had the best season of his professional career and while it may have seemed like he had done all or more than most are capable of, many like myself believe that Vick has room to grow and get better. It also appears that others are taking notice.

Vick has signed his first endorsement contract since his release from prison. The Philadelphia Eagles' Pro Bowl quarterback inked a two-year contract with Unequal Technologies, a provider of the football pads Vick wore most of last season.

The deal was announced last Thursday.

You had to know it would just be a matter of time before Mike Vick would be back in effect. Winning makes people forget even if they are not ready to forgive all together. There will be some people who will never forgive Mike Vick for what he did. However, there will be just as many people who are willing to move on as long as Vick can throw that deep ball and keep putting points on the board.

Making A Case For Michael Vick As MVP Over Tom Brady

The NFL Most Valuable player race has turned into a two horse race.  Many experts have New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the club house with a slight lead over the electrifying Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. There are a few that are even screaming the name Philip Rivers. (We won't include him but I am sure he will get some consideration)

It is easy to manufacture a respectable argument in favor of either player.  I think it is important to consider more than statistics.  It is vital to weigh other factors such as adversity and expectations in addition to their team's overall performance.

The Case For Brady

The Patriots have an 11-2 record.  They will likely be the No. 1 seed in the A.F.C. ensuring home-field throughout the playoffs. Brady’s statistics are simply Brady-like.  Thus far he has passed for 3561 yards, 31 touchdowns against four interceptions.  He has a passer rating of 109.9. Based on Brady’s statistics it would be easy to suggest he is the best player in football.

NFL Week 13: A Lot Was Revealed

There are a few things that NFL Week 13 revealed to the rest of the world. The first thing that stands out is that the Detroit Lions are a good bad team. That sounds ridiculous but they are losing games because they need about 5 more good players. They play harder than any team that I have watched this year and it’s a shame that they don’t win more. A few more draft picks and their luck may change.

The next thing that jumped out at me is that the Falcons are just good enough. They win the close games. They find a way to convert third downs, and their defense does just enough to get off the field without giving up a lot of points. They are dangerously good and they have good balance. I’m going to have to keep them on the radar the remainder of the season.

Another thing that jumped out about week 13 is that the Eagles are as good as advertised. I can’t remember that much young talent being assembled on offense.

Donovan McNabb versus Michael Vick: Why We Will Watch

This weekend will mark the real beginning of the role reversal that is Donovan McNabb playing quarterback in Washington and Michael Vick playing quarterback in Philadelphia. It’s funny how things have come full circle again in the city of brotherly love. On draft day, the fans wanted Ricky Williams for obvious reasons, he was without a doubt the best running back to come out of college in the past decade and everyone knows that a good running game will solidify your chances of winning in the NFL.

Donovan didn’t pout; he manned up and took on the challenge winning over the majority of the people in Philadelphia and beyond. Well last year the Eagles made another unpopular move, signing free agent Michael Vick who was fresh out of the federal penitentiary. Eagle’s fans were erratic at this signing. They felt as if it was pointless since the great Kevin Kolb was waiting in the wings and he was assured to be the air apparent to a regressing Donovan McNabb.

This past summer the Eagles realized that keeping all three quarterbacks would lead to a conundrum. All were guaranteed money and it was going to be impossible to keep all three and stay cap friendly, so the Eagles started shopping the three. More calls came in for Kolb than any of the three. It made sense at the time since he is young and doesn’t already have a mega million dollar contract. Plus his youth makes his upside even brighter. The remaining calls that came in were for the aging McNabb. Not one team in the NFL called about Michael Vick. “NOT ONE.” That led Philadelphia to make a decision. Cutting Vick didn’t make sense because he was guaranteed 5 million this year. So the Eagles sent McNabb packing.
