Now that you have gotten your quarterback wide receiver, and running back situation under control, today we are going to discuss the power players. That’s right we are talking tight ends. While you are looking for a tight end there are three things to keep in mind. The first thing you should look for is how many times your wide tight end is targeted per game. Is your tight end one of your quarterback’s favorite targets or will they be blocking the majority of the time. You should also see if your tight end averages at least 8 yards per catch. That is important because you want your tight end to be a person who can get you at least 40 to 50 yards per game and a touchdown from time to time. Below I have compiled a list of the top 15 tight ends to grab in the fantasy draft.
Tight Ends You Want To Get In the First Round
None
Second Round Tight Ends
None
Third Round Tight Ends
1 – Dallas Clark – Indianapolis Colts – No doubt he will be targeted more than most and he is the security blanket for Peyton Manning. Great pick up at the end of the third round but that’s still kind of high.
Fourth Round Tight Ends
2 – Antonio Gates – San Diego Chargers – Gates would normally be first on the board but with a few new receivers and a few new players on the offensive line, I expect Gates may have to help more with pass protection than in years past.
3 – Brent Celek – Philadelphia Eagles – Expect big things from Celek as he will be the goal line threat for the Eagles. The running game will not be that great so Celek should get plenty of goal line opportunities.
4 – Vernon Davis – San Francisco 49ers – Davis is the man for this team. He is a wide receiver trapped in a tight ends body.
