The Perfect Team For Donovan McNabb: The Detroit Lions

There is only one team in the NFL that is suited for Donovan McNabb and nobody is really talking about it. That team is the Detroit Lions. They have a good core of receivers and a fairly young offense. They have a quarterback in Matthew Stafford who cannot stay healthy and a running game that is similar to the guys he had in Philadelphia.

McNabb probably hasn’t even considered the Lions but it makes sense. Even if Stafford beats him out at quarterback, chances are Stafford will be hurt by week 4. McNabb can buy himself some time and prove to the rest of the world that there is still some magic left in that right arm. McNabb is noted as not being the most accurate passer in the world, but he would still be throwing to Calvin “Megatron” Johnson who can catch a BB in the dark.

McNabb can still play but I am not sure at what level. The Lions at least give him a chance to showcase some leadership and some savvy that is well needed on that young but exciting team. I keep hearing rumors of teams that really don’t suit his talents. If he goes to a veteran team, they just get that much older and that doesn’t help them in the long run.

I Wouldn’t Bet Against Cam Newton Being Successful In The NFL

Every year, the NFL draft winds down and everyone wants to know if their team is going to be great on draft day or will they lay the rotten egg. This year, no one has had to endure as much criticism as Cameron Newton. Cam has been analyzed from every angle and regardless of the scrutiny; he has withstood the criticism and stood tall. Don’t get it twisted, I am not saying that Newton will be as great as Andrew Luck will be next year when he enters the draft, but as far as talent goes, it’s hard to argue with the resume of this young man.

In the last three years, the young man has assembled a pretty significant resume. He was on the national championship team at Florida, he won a junior college national championship at Blinn College, and this year he led the Auburn Tigers to a national championship. The only downside of this argument is that he has had to face some scrutiny every where that he has been.

The way I see it, talent is talent. Newton reminds me a little of a couple of guys. The first is Josh Freeman. They share the same poise. Big bodied quarterbacks who believe that if given enough time, they can make the earth move. He also has a little Philip Rivers in him as his confidence is never shaken. He has the ability to look in his teammates eyes and demand that they follow or get out of the way. He also has a little Donovan McNabb in him as he can use his lower body to his advantage.

You may say that none of these guys have won anything yet, and with that statement you are true. But ask any team that didn’t draft either of those guys would they like to have them and all but 5 teams would say without hesitation yes.

The Myth of The Franchise Quarterback

According to Wikipedia, a franchise player is an athlete who is not simply the best player on their team, but a player that the team can build their "franchise" (team) around for the foreseeable future. The misunderstanding that a franchise player is only "the best player on a team" disregards the fact that an inordinately bad team will undoubtedly still employ a player with superior skills, relative to his team. However, such a player could be so bad in comparison to players at large that labeling such a player a franchise player would be inappropriate. It is an elite status, but it is not necessarily a singular position; a large team such as an American football team might have a few franchise players at different positions. The term may be used alongside a particular position name to describe a player, such as a "franchise quarterback".

There seems to be a lot of arguing about the impact of a franchise quarterback and their importance to the team along experts and analysts. Everyone seems to think that a franchise quarterback is necessary to win championships. I agree to a certain extent, but lets not get all caught up in this quarterback mystique. Let’s look at who people argue is the best quarterback in the game. Peyton Manning has been without a doubt the most consistent dynamic quarterback of his generation. Manning however only has won one super bowl in his career.

If you look across the league, the quarterback position is important, but good teams have two things in common; they run the ball and they play good defense. No disrespect to the quarterback position, but teams that have won the Super Bowl has all had very good running attacks in the big game. Look at the one Super Bowl that Manning won. It was a game dominated by Dominic Rhodes. Even when you look at some of the elite quarterbacks that won the championship,

Americas Most Unwanted Football Players Unite

I have solved a lot of issues with players that no one wants in the NFL. It all starts with Donovan McNabb. The man gets disrespected in every city that he plays in. Obviously no one really wants him but the Vikings so it makes perfectly good sense that they sign him. Now lets make this happen.

The Vikings already have a lot of good pieces in place. They just need to revamp their offensive line and hire a new coach. That’s why they should pass on Leslie Frazier and hire a coach that no one wants anymore like ……… Wade Phillips. Wade comes in and keeps things soft so no one is going to be mad at the way they practice.

The Vikings are solid at running back as they can go 3 deep and look good, however they are a little slim at wide receiver. Let’s fix this. I like Percival Harvin and Sidney Rice but they need two more guys that can get it done. No problem, the owner loves Randall Gene Moss and word is that Terrell Eldorado Owens is available and we know that Wade loved him in Dallas.

Redskins Fans: Do You Believe Rex Grossman Is Better Than Donovan McNabb

According to reports, Washington will start Rex Grossman at quarterback Sunday against the Cowboys over Donovan McNabb.

This is somewhat surprising.

On a conference call Wednesday, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was asked if McNabb would start Sunday and replied, “You want to go through our whole lineup or do you want me to go through each position or do you just want to start with the quarterback?”

This just doesn’t really set well with me. At some point you have to stop disrespecting the legacy of McNabb. If you are going to replace him with someone, it should be someone who is better. I guess Mike Shanahan needed someone else to go after since Haynesworth can no longer be blamed for the teams debacles.

Shanahan said the same practice plan has been in place all year regarding the snaps between McNabb and Grossman, but this possibility has been out there for the last couple of weeks.
