Life In The Adamantium Bleachers: A Fans Look At The Hot Players In The NFL

Today we will take our fandom evaluation around the league with a look at 10 players or situations that impressed or surprised us on the past couple of weeks. Since we're all about the positives here at Bull City, let's start with the five players who put on particularly impressive showings this past Sunday and Monday.

Who’s Hot

1. Steven Jackson might become the poster boy for this section. The man just goes hard day in and day out. Sunday he seemed to be playing a little bit harder and acted as if he had something to prove. Maybe he didn’t like where I ranked him in the 5 best running backs in the league last week and he decided that he was going to prove me wrong. Seriously outside of Matt Forte is there a more complete runner in the league?

Welcome Back Welcome Back DeSean Jackson

Good news hit the stands yesterday as DeSean Jackson aka “The Freak” has decided to report to Eagles camp. The Eagles have been busy in free agency making the most of their money getting some big named free agents to report to their camp in 2011. Regardless of the signings, none of it really matters if the Eagles were to take the field without their offensive star.

Jackson spreads the field and makes everyone around him better. If teams make the mistake and play too many men in the box, Jackson will destroy whoever has to deal with him one on one.

DeSean Jackson Stole The Soul Out Of Giants Fans

Yesterday DeSean Jackson stole the souls of the New York Giants fans with the first ever walk-off punt return in NFL history. He is undoubtedly a “Love him if he’s on your team, hate him if he’s not” kind of player. The 65 yard punt return by Jackson today to end the game put the Eagles one step closer to clinching the NFC East.

It’s not so much that Jackson, has a flair for the big play, it’s his showboating antics that get a rise out of his opponents and detractors and adoration from his teammates and fans. The man is a human highlight reel. You never know what you are going to get but you know it’s going to be exciting.

Today we were shooting hoops and every person left the floor and went to check the television to see the Jackson replay. Nobody could believe it. The fact that the Eagles came back to be in position to win was amazing in itself. All the person who came in the gym had to say was “The Jerk” did it to the Giants. Everyone bolted out the door to see the replay.

Week 14: Nothing Spectacular But Not Your Ordinary Week Either

The 14th weekend of the football season was nothing short of spectacular. Usually on Friday I shock the world as I attend a high school football game in the state. This Friday I made my way to Keenan Stadium at the University of North Carolina. I sat out in the freezing cold weather to watch Albemarle High School impose its will on the opponent and win its first state championship since the departure of T.A. McLendon, former N.C. State running back.

Saturday I had great intentions. I was supposed to go to BB&T Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to watch the Bull City’s own Hillside High School take on western North Carolina foe Davie County. Unfortunately I overslept and as I headed up the highway in the rain, I received a text message that the score was 28 – 0 with minutes left in the first quarter, so I turned around and headed back home to warmer conditions. I did however watch the live feed as Hillside dominated Davie County winning the game 40 – 0.
