Mark Sanchez: Is He Finally Becoming What We Thought He Would Be

On Sunday Mark Sanchez took a big step forward. Against the Patriots, Sanchez didn’t look like the second year player who was unprepared or second guessing himself. Sanchez was looking like a seasoned veteran with an upside that would leave the avid football coaches, players, and fan drooling while watching him play. Sanchez was making all the throws on Sunday showcasing the rifle connected to the right side of his body. Even in distress he found the proper outlets and for once, the New York Jets allowed him to showcase his ability to throw the ball deep.

Sanchez completed 21 of 30 passes and also had 3 touchdowns for the Jets against a pretty good New England Patriots Defense. What I liked most about how Sanchez approached the game, he didn’t really lock on to one guy. Sanchez was hitting everyone. He was throwing while reading and utilizing play action better than I have ever seen from him since turning pro.

It seems like the Jets were going to the blueprint that was successful in the playoffs last season. On offense they have figured out that teams are going to stack the line of scrimmage on first and second down so that is the best time to pass. Everyone knows that defensive coaches like to run the ball because they like to minimize the number of plays that their defense will be on the field.

NFL 2010 Week 2: It’s Early But There Are A Few Teams To Keep An Eye On

Week 2 of the NFL season is telling the real fans of football who can play and which teams are legit. Regardless of what was said about you at the beginning of the season, you have to put up or shut up in the league that doesn’t take anyone or anything for granted. Two weeks are proof that anything can happen with proper preparation, good coaching, and perfect execution in all three phases of the game.

A few teams have started out 2 – 0 and others are now 0 – 2. There is no doubt that starting good is important to ticket sales and ownership perceptions of teams, but how you finish is more important than how you start. Some of the teams that we have seen this year so far aren’t showing any signs of improvement while others look much better than the EXPERTS had given them credit for.

Summary of Week 2

The Green Bay Packers are as good as advertised. The Packer’s even without Ryan Grant are pretty darn good. Aaron Rodgers is solid and the Packers have a slew of wide receivers that they can throw at you. The surprising thing is the Packers defense. They are fast and aggressive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers are playing their final game in the new Texas Stadium, although it is highly unlikely without a solid running game.

The York Jets have the Patriots number. For some reason the Jets are one of the few teams that can control Randy Moss (Mr. Outside) and Wes Welker (Mr. Inside). Mr. Revis gave up one touchdown to Randy Moss, but the Jets shut Mr. Outside down as he only had 2 catches for 38 yards.

The Dallas Cowboys offense is anemic at best. Everyone knows that I love the Dallas Cowboys but their offense has been bad the past few games. For some reason Tony Romo’s delivery looks awkward and his accuracy isn’t what it used to be. If Romo doesn’t pick it up, the Dallas Cowboys will be in

Randy Moss: Tell Them How You Really Feel

Related Posts with Thumbnails

In what will likely go down as the most entertaining postgame press conference this season, Patriots receiver Randy Moss spoke at length -- for nearly 14 minutes, sometimes philosophically, sometimes contentiously -- about his contract situation and his current frame of mind after the Patriots' 38-24 victory. Here are the opening comments in full from Moss, who did not speak to the media during training camp. This also includes a partial Q&A after he completed his statement; the full Q&A will be posted shortly:

Randy Moss: "We're not going to wait on everybody, but before I get to questions, man, I'd like to say something. You know, I've been here for three years, this is my fourth season. And I understand the business, the nature, and I understand you all have a job to do.

"When it comes to football, I take my job seriously, as I've said time and time again. And I think there's . . . I don't really want to say here in the organization, but I think here in the area, I think here in the New England area a lot of people don't want to see me do good. The reason why, I really don't know, I really don't care. But I just want to let you all know, you are the ones doing all the writing, you have the pad and ink, and I don't have anything. Anything that I may say will get blown out of proportion. I think earlier in the week I got asked a question about me being here and being unhappy. And me being unhappy doesn't have nothing to do with me toning my game down. I'm here, and I understand my role. My role is to take the ball deep and take the top off the defense. And I think earlier in the we

Does Revis Get A Pass

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is unhappy with his current contract, held out in a different form of protest on Monday. He refused to go in and sat out a few plays at the end of practice.

Revis said that the Jets' latest offer was an "insult," claiming that it included no guaranteed money.

Now I don’t have a problem with people wanting more money. The NFL is a business. The NFL also doesn’t do guaranteed contracts, so get what you can, when you can. However do not show up to an OTA and fake an injury because you are unhappy with the amount of money you are being paid.

It’s kind of funny that some players get passes and others don’t when it comes to battling the franchise for more money.

Money is always going to be a sensitive subject when you are discussing professional athletes. The average person can’t relate to how a person can’t live off of 7 million dollars a year. Fans have a point, but market value is what it is. If someone who is not as good as me is getting paid 5 times more than me, I am going to do all I can to get what I should be getting.
