Can Oklahoma Finish Number One In 2011

Very few teams have the ability to wear the target all season and survive. When you are the target, you get everyone’s best. There is not time for mediocrity and no time for delayed starts. For most teams out there, preseason number one is a curse. Usually the schedule starts too soft and people’s perception of you gets tainted or you struggle out of the box and people start to doubt you.

The key for Stoops and the Sooners is to play to win the games. They shouldn’t worry about margin of victory, how they looked winning, and run up scores leaving starters in too long. Good coaches know that if you are pre season number one and you go undefeated, you are likely to be in the national championship game even if you win every game by one point.

Oklahoma is loaded but I often wonder are they legit. I am not sure I would pick them to win it all just yet. The thing about pre season polls they are based on what everyone expects. I don’t know how much time the offensive line has spent in the weight room this off season. I am not sure Landry Jones can make all of the throws. I am not sure the secondary can hold up against quality receivers.

Fists of Frustration: The LeGarrette Blount Story

LeGarrette Blount is often misunderstood. The kid has done all the right things and said all the right things but he will forever be scrutinized by his actions. That is what happened in his first college game last September as he destroyed Boise State linebacker Byron Hout. Blount is being scrutinized by the media again and this time, the person he punched was a member of Blount's own team.

The Tennessee Titans rookie running back took a swing at teammate Eric Bakhtiari after a testy practice on Wednesday night during which numerous Titans players scuffled with one another, according to The Tennessean. Blount was the ball carrier on one play and had his helmet ripped off as the action was whistled dead. He stormed away to the end zone while other players pushed and shoved, seemingly avoiding any conflict.
