Can Oklahoma Finish Number One In 2011

Very few teams have the ability to wear the target all season and survive. When you are the target, you get everyone’s best. There is not time for mediocrity and no time for delayed starts. For most teams out there, preseason number one is a curse. Usually the schedule starts too soft and people’s perception of you gets tainted or you struggle out of the box and people start to doubt you.
The key for Stoops and the Sooners is to play to win the games. They shouldn’t worry about margin of victory, how they looked winning, and run up scores leaving starters in too long. Good coaches know that if you are pre season number one and you go undefeated, you are likely to be in the national championship game even if you win every game by one point.
Oklahoma is loaded but I often wonder are they legit. I am not sure I would pick them to win it all just yet. The thing about pre season polls they are based on what everyone expects. I don’t know how much time the offensive line has spent in the weight room this off season. I am not sure Landry Jones can make all of the throws. I am not sure the secondary can hold up against quality receivers.
