I'm Starting To Believe Clemson Might Be Legit

At the beginning of the season if you were to ask me who would be the three best teams in the ACC, Clemson would have never rolled off my tongue. In fact, they weren’t even a thought as most thought head coach Dabo Sweeny would be fired by mid season. Well boy was I wrong. Tajh Boyd has turned up performances that are Heisman worthy and the Clemson Tigers are undefeated with a pretty darn good resume to top it off.

The Tigers are (5-0, 2-0), basking in their highest national ranking since 2000, are the first ACC team ever to win three consecutive games against nationally-ranked opponents (four if you want to count FCS power Wofford). Their offense has dissected every opponent in front of them and defensively they fly around the ball like a bunch of crazed Tigers. (No pun intended)

Having already vanquished the preseason picks to win the Atlantic (Florida State) and Coastal (Va. Tech) divisions, Clemson is the clear favorite to win a weak Atlantic group, with games remaining against Wake Forest, Maryland, N.C. State and a 3 p.m. kickoff Saturday at home vs. lowly Boston College who has already dropped a game to Duke.

Either Way It Goes, The Real Loser In All Of This Will Be Cameron Newton

On my way home from my basketball game last night, I got a phone call asking me had I heard about Cameron Newton. Immediately I was like wow when they started explaining that the word circulating around the NCAA via Mississippi State University is that Cameron Newton was being shopped by a middle man to play college football before this season.

According to an ESPN.com report Thursday,Newton was being shopped by a middle man and his services had been offered to the Bulldogs. The claim is that they were told they were getting a discount for quarterback Cameron Newton because he supposedly liked their coach. The true rate, according to the Website, was $200,000. It was set by a recruiting middleman named Kenny Rogers. (Possibly the Gambler or maybe the Gunslinger)

Mississippi State didn’t bite. Newton went to Auburn, has become the Heisman Trophy favorite and turned a reeling program into a potential BCS champion. Auburn isn’t commenting other than to assert Newton is still eligible to play. Newton’s family said they neither received any money nor authorized anyone to sell out their son. (No manumission papers have been found either so there may be some truth to this)
