Maybe Kevin Durant Should Have Been The MVP

I don't often question NBA greatness and I rarley go against the grain when it comes to athletes but I am wondering if the NBA got it right this year naming Lebron James the MVP of the NBA. Honestly I would have given it to Kevin Durant. Durant's love for the game is apparent.

In a league where most professional athletes are stuck up and full of themselves only a select few will open themselves up to the people. Since the end of last NBA season, Kevin Durant has done this more than any athlete that I can remember.  Very few super stars can endorse being normal and participating amongst the masses of people who love them.

This year he even stepped his game up more. Last year I felt like he got robbed but I could somewhat justify Derrick Rose getting the MVP. This year, Durant had a valid argument as well but it appears that the NBA took more stock in the performance of James since he was always on the center stage.

Durant just continued to perform at a high level and carried his team, in his custom backpack, to a slew of victories. The controversy at the beginning of the year was could Durant and Westbrook coexist. After the Thunder resolved that by signing Westbrook to a long term deal KD emerged as a leader and his team followed his lead to a career season.

Maybe the fans and the NBA aren't ready to crown the man just yet, but they have been put on notice. The man who used to be considered just a jump shooter who couldn't bench press his weight is now a lethal scorer, defender, and creator. Eventually the powers that be will notice and Durant can get the recognition that he deserves.
