2012 NBA Playoffs Have Yet To Disappoint

I have seen enough of the playoffs to say that there are three teams that you can pencil in for the NBA conference finals. In the West the two superior teams are the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs and the Thunder are polar opposites in that one team is young and hungry and the other is seasoned and experienced.

The Spurs look like a well oiled machine and because of the age of the team they need to stay that way. In fact, the less games they play the better due to the age of their roster and the possible collision with the young Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

The Oklahoma City Thunder set the tone last night as they looked like they might just sweep the Lakers, who barely got away with a win over the Denver Nuggets. In fact you could argue that the Nuggets might have been a better fit to play against the youth of the Thunder as the match ups don't seem to work for the Lakers as they don't have a point guard that can defend Russell Westbrook.

In the East, the only team you can pencil in right now may be the Miami Heat. That too might be questionable since they lost Chris Bosh for at least two weeks. The Heat are led by two of the five best players in the game and their supporting cast has been playing out of their minds since the playoffs began.

I would have said that the Celtics were a shoe in for the Eastern Conference Finals but they look a bit shaky against the Philadelphia 76'ers who are proving to be one of the top teams in the league as they are getting hot at the right time of year.

One thing is for sure, this years playoffs have been far more entertaining than I expected. Even though my horse is no longer in the race, I will still be tuned in to watch. Hopefully you will too.
