It's Time To Take The Knicks Serious

Joe Simmons When the New York Knicks cut Chauncey Billups and received amnesty for his 15 million dollars in salary it seemed like they made a mistake. The Knicks were left without a legitimate point guard and they were losing because they had their best shooter trying to be scorer and playmaker. The Knicks made the most of that money by adding Tyson Chandler, who has by far been the most consistent Knick this season.
The Knicks got the big man they wanted to anchor the front line but they were still lacking in the back court. Iman Shumpert, Mike Bibby, and Tony Douglas were the main catalyst behind distributing the rock but none of them were legitimate point guards. After losing a few games and his job status in jeopardy, Mike D’Antoni decided to take the advice of Carmelo Anthony and insert Jeremy Lin into the line up. Since the addition of Lin, the Knicks have run off seven out of eight games over some below average competition.
Winning is winning so I don’t take Jeremy Lin’s confidence for granted. A point guard makes those around them better. It is obvious the Lin is making guys like Landry Fields better and Steve Novak has emerged as a legitimate scorer. I know you just chuckled a bit as I mentioned Novak but lets keep it real, he is scoring like he has never done in his NBA career.
The Knicks weren’t satisfied and they added the final piece of the puzzle in J.R. Smith. J.R. Swish is a bonafide scorer who can play positions one, two, and three. He is also a scorer who can get hot enough to become a one man inferno and carry a team to few extra wins. Now when I look at the Knicks roster I get excited. Really any Knick fan should.
Take a look … Lin, Fields, Melo, Stat, Chandler, B Diddy, J.R. Swish, Novak, Walker, Jeffries, and Shumpert. That is eleven bonafide ballers. That is an incredibly deep roster come playoff time. You can literally roll out the hottest lineup and still get wins.
I think it’s bigger than Linsanity, it’s a good roster that just got a little bit better with a point guard who can run the show.
Stay Breezy ~ I’m Out!
