What To Expect From This Years Super Bowl

Joe Simmons
Its Super Bowl Week and quite frankly I am excited. I don't have a dog in the hunt but traditionally I pull for the NFC since my team (pending the release of Terrance Newman) participates in that division. When I look at both teams I get a little jittery trying to pick a winner and here's why:
The Giants are hard to figure out. The only team that they were dominated by down the stretch was that one game against the Eagles who by the way need to sharpen up that defensive side of the ball if they plan on winning it all next year. The Giants play sloppy for spurts in games but somehow they have found a way to overcome their deficiencies and make it to the big game.
The Patriots are just the opposite. They have all the weapons a person could want on offense, but defensively they are just dismal. Outside of Vince Wilfork, they don't really do much to make you say wow on defense.
The Giants have the edge at receiver when you look at the teams. Cruz, Nicks, and Manningham are a formidable three headed monster. They also have the advantage at running back with Jacobs and Bradshaw.
The Patriots have the edge on the offensive line and the tighte end position, with possibly the best tight end combination in the history of the game with Gronk and Hernandez.
As for the quarterback position, slight edge to Sir Thomas Brady because he has won more than Eli and he is by far more consistent. Eli however has outplayed Brady this post season, largely due to the fact that his weapons are all healthy and Victor Cruz has emerged as a legitimate threat at wide receiver this season.
Defensively, there is no real comparison. The Giants make their living on defense and the Patriots try to outscore their opponent with hopes that the defense can hold enough to win. However in the playoffs, the Patriots defense has stepped it up a notch and have been good when it matters most. This game will be fun to watch as two tactitioners go head to head.
I hope it is as exciting as the last matchup they had in the big game. If it is, the real winners will be us.
Stay Breezy ~ I'm Out!
