Delicious Animals Get No Love: Arguing A Case For Michael Vick

First thing to note is that I am a Michael Vick apologist. But there are several things that bother me about society. I can honestly say that I don’t condone anything that Michael Vick has done to dogs in his lifetime. However there does seem to be a double standard when it comes to treatment of animals.
Recently Mark Buerhle, an admitted hunter, says that he wishes Mike Vick would have gotten injured because of his treatment of dogs. My question to Mark is if you hunt animals of any kind, what makes you any different than Mike Vick? Just because animals are delicious does not excuse you from the slaughtering. Delicious animals get no love. Just because deer tastes good or cows taste good, it’s ok for you to pull the trigger and destroy their quality of life.
I know you are going to say it’s different because hunters eat what they kill. Let’s say that Mike Vick was eating those pit bulls after he killed them, would that make what happened ok. Chances are you are probably saying no. I understand. Delicious animals don’t get any love. I love pigs like most people love dogs. Every time I see someone eating pork, I cringe. It pains me. I think of my former pet pig Ryan who later was killed and eaten by a neighbor. (Not really but it makes for a better story... actually I love bacon)... Should I wish death on my neighbor because his hunting instincts took over and he decided that my pig was a delicatessen?

Seriously there appears to be things that go unnoticed because the right people haven’t endorsed what is taking place in society. Environmentally speaking you could ask should the Auburn tree assassin get the Michael Vick treatment. Seriously the man killed trees that were over 150 years old. He poisoned them. That’s just reckless. However because he is not rich, he probably won’t do a day in prison. Needless to say I totally shocked that I haven’t seen Al Gore and leading environmentalist going crazy about this. I mean if PETA was upset about some dogs, Environmental interest groups should be going crazy right now.
I remember them going crazy once in Chapel Hill, NC when I cut down a tree that I wasn’t supposed to. So I can imagine what they would do to someone who poisoned a group of trees in a college town.
Needless to say, for some, things get overlooked, but to those in the lime life, they get magnified and render scrutiny. I'll end it with this, Vick got what he deserved, I just hope others who do similar crimes get the same treatment.

This is a bit much don't you think??? Bacon is good though
Vick was wrong but you have a point.. People take a lot for granted. I hope they all get whats coming to them.
People care more about these animals than they people man..smh.. but yo when I clicked on your link and saw that pick roasting I was done!!!...hahahahha
I think the way Vick tortured and killed his dogs is quite a bit different than the way hunters kill their prey. They don't hold the preys head in a bucket of water and wait for it to drown or hang it from a tree struggling till its neck either breaks or it dies of strangulation, and they don't take it by it's legs in a spread eagle splay and continuously slam it on the ground breaking most of it bones before it dies. Hunters do their best to make sure they get a one shot quick kill, not inflict as much pain as possible before something dies. Michael Vick hasn't gotten nearly what he deserves. I think he got better treatment because of who he is and the money he has. If it were a poor person who did these things they would be in a mental hospital at the least.
