UNC Basketball Fans Should Really Thank Sharon Drew

One thing is apparent this year and that is that the UNC Tarheels season turned around the day that Roy Williams decided to insert Kendall Marshall into the starting lineup. When Williams decided to make that change everyone including myself wondered what would be the outcome. Larry Drew II appeared to embrace the role of backup. I can say with 100% conviction that he was somewhat relieved and had even started playing better. Drew’s mom, Sharon had bigger issues with this and it appears that she wanted more for her son and the family decided that enough was enough and Drew decided to transfer.
Well when Larry Drew II decided to leave, everything turned completely around. If you think about it, it only left one real point guard on the UNC roster, but it seemed to rally the team closer together. Since the departure of Drew the only game that the Tarheels lost was to Duke in the first matchup of the season. The Tarheels have been on an incredible run and the fans should really thank Sharon Drew.
Who knows what Roy Williams would have eventually done down the stretch of the season and Sharon Drew made that decision easy for him. Roy even joked that his friends told him he really coached well down the stretch of the season, stating that “No my team just played better.”
On Saturday night there were several references to the Drew II departure and every Carolina fan was elated. It is obvious that Drew’s departure was the key cog in the reinvention of this Carolina team. No one, including myself believed that this UNC team would win the regular season championship after beginning the season 4 – 3. So I want to personally thank Sharon Drew for everything from snapping at other players parents in Puerto Rico, to making her son quit the UNC Basketball team. In my opinion Sharon Drew is the ACC Coach of the Year.

LOL @ you giving that boy's mother Coach of the Year.
Man, I certainly didn't see this coming; not at all. However, with that, there are a lotta UNC fans who need to give up the ghost and offer Roy Williams an apology as well. Rarely does a man who has won two chips in six years get crucified like he has been for the past year and change.
Oh you like my coaching skills. Wait til next year when I make him quit his new team and he's not even going to be eligible to play yet. Don't sweat the technique.
