It's Funny That Melo Is On My Team Now

The other day I was watching Knicks highlights from last year and I saw where fans were chanting “Melo, Melo, Melo…” Quite frankly it is incredibly ironic that Carmelo Anthony is on the Knicks roster right now. The real fan or sports aficionado remembers that Melo’s most infamous episode as a player was when he threw the bitch punch at Mardy Collins at the Garden and then back pedaled as if he were Deion Sanders covering Michael Irvin. I remember people were killing him calling him a girl and a sissy because of the weakness of his punch attempt if we want to call it that.

Things have definitely changed as now he is loved in New York. Were he able to bring the Knicks a championship the fans will definitely love Melo. He definitely has turned a corner as a player. He distributes the rock and doesn’t shoot every time he gets the ball. He no longer performs foolish unexplainable things on and off the court. As a Knicks fan, it is great to have Melo in a Knicks uniform and hopefully he can deliver this season as a leader and major contributor.

Melo has created a trend as now free agents are looking to come to the big apple and play alongside him and Amare Stoudemire. The Knicks have been able to add Tyson Chandler to the middle and just recently got a commitment from Baron Davis to come in and play after he finishes rehabilitation from a recent back surgery. The good thing is that the Knicks are able to make these moves without spending insane amounts of money.

They were able to save face by cutting Chauncey Billups and that freed up an incredible 14 million dollars to go out and make some necessary roster moves.

It's funny how things come full circle and now that Melo is a Knick, lets hope he punches his way to the finals and brings us a ring.

Stay Breezy ~ I'm Out!
