Merry Christmas from the Bull City State of Mind family. I hope everyone got the gifts they desired or at least got a chance to worship, eat, and praise the reason we celebrate this day.
Not Much Football On Tap
Due to the slow death of the Blue-Grey College football classic that no one (except for me) ever seemed to watch, there will be no college football games today. The Dallas Cowboys will take on the Arizona Cardinals, however, in NFL action. It shouldn't be too much to watch as both teams are dismal NFL teams but it could be entertaining if both teams bring it and play at their best.

There Should Be Plenty Of Hoops
Christmas Day is a big day in the NBA. The league doesn’t dare compete with Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, but there will be five NBA games today, beginning at 12 p.m., with the last one starting at 9:30 p.m.
The NBA fans are excited as opening day is probably the best Christmas Present that they could have ever had. Thank God that we are getting hoops this season. The fact that they are starting on Christmas day makes a lot of sense as well. The idea, I guess, is that people can do their Christmas shopping on Dec. 24 and on Dec. 25 they can head to the arena for some hoops. If they can't make it to the arena's then the NBA brass figures a lot of basketball fans will eat a big Christmas dinner with their families, then can’t get out of the easy chair, and will click through the TV channels until they get to ... basketball.
With no football games being played, those addicted to sports can see a little ball, the advertisers can try to make a few sales and the television network can make a little money. Everybody will be happy.

There Should Be Plenty Of Holiday Cheer
But the best sports events every Christmas day isn’t football, basketball, college, or pro sports. It doesn’t have anything to with a bowl game or a contest involving playoff teams or even a birdie on No. 18 at the golf course.
It’s when a kid gets a football or basketball or soccer ball or tennis racquet, and can hardly wait until all the presents are opened, all the prayers are completed, and certainly all the dishes are washed until they can go outside and throw that football, shoot that basketball, kick that soccer ball or hit that tennis ball.
That’s when they’re having fun. No disrespect to PlayStation or any of those other video games you can play inside, but when you see kids playing ball outdoors in the yard, they all seem to have big smiles on their faces. That’s the best sports news on Christmas Day.
